PEQUONNOCK RIVER ALGAE 1890 - 1899

A number of the algae samples were collected by Bridgeport resident, Issac Holden and processed for Francis Drouet who had one of the largest international collections of algae samples in the world.  Drouet ultimately founded the National Herbarium in the Washington D. C. area which is also part of the Smithsonian Institute.

PEQUONNOCK RIVER HABITAT-SAMPLE RESEARCH BIOCRITERIA

2012 PLATFORM AND AGENDA

  • Create a demonstration rain garden at a site along the urban river!
  • Nominate a building along the river for a green roof/roof garden;  locate corporate sponsor and grant funding for the project!
  • Establish the sponsorship and recruit Board of Directors members for a start-up rowing club on the Knowlton Street section of the Pequonnock River in East Bridgeport, CT!
